Honda CRV Utah – 2011 – Ken Garff Honda Downtown

February 1, 2011

Since the Honda CR-V entered the market it has been a formidable competitor. Years later it is still raking in the awards and accolades from Critics and Owners. Here are a few of the awards the current remodel has earned since it’s arrival in 2010…

Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, The Trusted Resource for automotive information, has once again honored the 2011 CR-V with its Best Resale Value Award in both the Compact Utility Vehicle and Top 10 categories[1]. Kbb.com found the 2011 CR-V to be deserving of these awards for its projected exceptionally high resale value after five years of ownership.

[1] Vehicle’s projected resale value is specific to the 2011 model year. For more information, visit Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. Kelley Blue Book is a registered trademark of Kelley Blue Book Co., Inc.

Edmunds.com named the CR-V a 2010 “Top Recommended” vehicle because of its car-like driving manners, good value, cool technology and comfy interior. Of the CR-V’s safety, Edmunds.com stated, “Crash test scores don’t get much better[1].” On the CR-V’s versatility, Edmunds.com liked its ample cargo space and “innovative storage solutions.” Edmunds also appreciated the CR-V’s reputation for reliability, saying it’s “still one of the strongest in the business”, and also the CR-V’s drivability, stating that it “offers some of the most responsive handling in its class.”

[1] Based on NHTSA and certain IIHS crash test scores.

The 2010 CR-V emerged victorious against a formidable field of competitors in Motor Trend‘s compact crossover comparison shootout from their March 2010 issue. According to Motor Trend, the capable CR-V beat the likes of Subaru, GMC and Hyundai for first place with its exceptional engine, lively handling, and comfortable, usable interior space. Of the CR-V’s complete package, Motor Trend said it’s “In a class by itself in quality feel, classy interior materials and carefully wrought details,” and “it isn’t just the smart decision when looking at crossovers, it appeals to the emotions too. Both sides of the brain would be very happy with the CR-V.”

So lets break down what makes the Honda CR-V so popular and well liked.

The CR-V sports plenty of power and agility to make driving a thrill.

i-VTEC® Engineering
The 180-hp, DOHC i-VTEC® engine provides both low-rpm torque and plenty of horsepower at higher revs.

Easy Shifting
A 5-speed automatic transmission makes for smooth shifts and power when you need it. It also features our Grade Logic Control System, which helps put an end to gear-hunting when climbing uphill or driving back down.

The Drive Itself
The CR-V utilizes MacPherson strut front suspension for a better drive. And available Real Time™ 4-wheel drive helps increase performance during adverse road conditions.

The Exterior

The 2011 CR-V gives you even more of what you crave.

Sleek Stance
A sophisticated, aerodynamic shape and smooth, sleek lines announce the CR-V’s arrival.

Ready to Roll
SE, EX and EX-L models have 17-inch alloy wheels.

Easy-to-load
The lightweight lift-up tailgate is one piece and opens upward, making it simple to load and unload cargo.

Detail-Oriented
Multi-reflector halogen headlights shine brightly on the road ahead. And folding power side mirrors give you a bit more parking room in tight spaces.

The Interior
Want it? The CR-V’s got it.

Talk Hands-Free
With the available Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, you can make calls with your compatible cell phone while you’re on the go (EX-L with Navigation).

Stellar Audio
Take your MP3s along for the ride. The USB Audio Interface (EX-L) makes it easy to listen to your favorite driving soundtrack. And all CR-V audio systems feature an MP3/auxiliary input jack and are MP3- and Windows Media® Audio (WMA)-compatible.

Driver-Focused
Steering wheel-mounted controls, available heated leather seating (EX-L) and a one-touch power moonroof (EX, EX-L) make driving a CR-V even more enjoyable. Just sit back and relax in the driver’s seat with 10-way power adjustment, including power lumbar support (EX-L).

Perfectly Convenient
EX-L models feature a center console with two beverage holders and a 12-volt power outlet and MP3/auxiliary input jack. Storage space abounds, thanks to the upper and lower glove compartments and the rear dual-deck cargo shelf (EX, EX-L). Need more space? The 60/40 split rear seats have got you covered.

Passenger-Friendly
The CRV seats five comfortably, and rear-seat passengers can also enjoy their own rear air vents and fold-down center armrest.

Enviroment
For three decades, Honda has played a leading role in meeting environmental challenges.

Honda Engineering
i-VTEC®, our latest version of our variable valve timing and lift electronic control, ensures that the CR-V engine achieves both power and efficiency.

ULEV-2
The CR-V sports a smart, efficient powerplant that provides low-rpm torque as well as plenty of horsepower at higher revs. It’s no wonder the CR-V earned an Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV-2) rating by the California Air Resources Board.

Modern Thinking
In designing the CR-V, our focus was on aerodynamics, modern lines and a meticulous attention to detail. So not only is it sleek and sophisticated, but it’s also shaped to enhance fuel economy. So feel free to give in to your craving—without any guilt.

So in closing the CR-V is a great choice, a smart choice, for a versatile… mpg saving… roomy… sport utility that is easy on the pocket-book in many ways.

Honda’s Green Line-Up – Honda CR-Z, Honda Insight, Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Civic GX, and more – Ken Garff Honda Downtown

January 25, 2011

Honda has been named greenest automaker again for a reason. Their constantly adapting, evolving, inventory keeps getting stronger year after year. Even the vehicles that aren’t Hybrids are unbelievably clean vehicles. For instance, did you know that besides the five Hybrid or Alternative Fuel Vehicles that Honda carries ( 2011 Honda CR-Z Sports Hybrid, Honda Insight Hybrid, Honda Civic Hybrid, Honda Civic Natural Gas GX, and FCX Clarity ) that Honda was the first manufacturer to offer Ultra Low Emission Vehicle Rated Emission Technology in a production vehicle. That nearly every vehicle that Honda manufacturers is an Ultra Low Emission Vehicle ( ULEV-2 ) and the new 2011 Honda Accord is even stricter as it is a Partial Zero Emission Vehicle. That includes the Honda Accord, Honda Accord Crosstour, Honda Civic, Honda CR-V, Honda Fit, and yes even Honda Odyssey and Pilot are ULEV-2 vehicles. Amazing what you can accomplish when you work hard!

So what ever vehicle you get from Honda, it surely is better than most manufacturers, and is why they keep getting the greenest automaker awards. Lets go over your totally green vehicle options to show you just how diverse a collection Honda has for you.

2011 Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid
: The most inexpensive Hybrid on the market. A sporty, fun to drive, coupe for the more enthusiastic driver on the road. Three driving modes to satisfy all your driving needs. Sport Mode for the racer in you, Normal Mode for a little of both worlds, and finally Econ Mode for the green conscience.

2011 Honda Civic Hybrid
: For those who want a bit more room, but still want a vehicle that you can get into tight spaces.. the Civic Hybrid is your answer.

2011 Honda Civic Natural Gas GX
: Honda’s Civic GX is the world’s cleanest internal-combustion vehicle.. if you want a Hybrid alternative.

2011 Honda Insight:
The first vehicle with the Econ Mode for Honda as well as Eco Assist. Helps you to drive more green as well as giving you even more room and options than the Civic Hybrid.

And now for the future vehicles that will be coming to a showroom near you…

2012 Fit EV Concept
: The Fit EV will achieve an estimated 100 miles driving range per charge using the US EPA LA4 City cycle (70 miles when applying EPA’s adjustment factor), well more than the average number of miles driven daily by most commuters. The Fit EV is scheduled to go on sale in the U.S. in 2012.

2012 Honda Civic Hybrid
: Will get the three driving mode enhancement that the current CR-Z has as well as Eco Assist… making it a more efficient version of the current Civic Hybrid as well as a new battery.

Then the new Plug In Hybrid System from Honda is also said to be making it’s debut in 2012, but we will have more details as they come along.

Honda Accord Utah – 2011 – Ken Garff Honda Downtown Salt Lake City Utah

January 18, 2011

The 2011 Honda Accord is winning hearts and minds of consumers and critics alike with its mid model redesign. Great new looks, improved fuel economy, improved features and benefits, and much improved overall safety… The Accord Sedan earned a 5-star safety rating in each of NHTSA’s combined safety rating categories. And that is quite an achievement, especially since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has established new, more stringent NCAP standards.

STYLING
Improved Looks inside and out. The Accord has been styled to attract more than just a passing glance. Its sharp lines and powerful stance excite the senses from any angle. Look closely. The Accord’s form is a study in modern design. The 2011 Accord sports a new grille, front bumper and trunk-lid design. And restyled 17-inch alloy wheels (EX and above) will surely impress. Wide-opening doors invite you to step inside. And the one-touch power moonroof (EX and above) couldn’t be any easier. No stone has been left unturned. That’s because the details make all the difference. Take a look at the Accord’s brilliantly finished exhaust and chrome door handles (V-6). Exquisite attention to fit and finish set the Accord apart from the average sedan.

INTERIOR
New for 2011, every Accord Sedan with a Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ comes equipped with a rearview camera, which makes backing up and parking easier.

CONVENIENT
Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® enables you to make hands-free calls with many compatible phones, and comes included with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ (and in EX-L models without the Navigation System). And steering wheel-mounted controls for audio and cruise control allow you to change speeds or music at will.

Accord LX Sedan features a 160-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with 6 speakers. EX adds a 6-disc in-dash CD player and an ingenious USB Audio Interface[3] that lets you listen to your favorite playlists. Step up to the EX-L, and enjoy a 270-watt AM/FM/6-disc in-dash premium audio system and XM® Radio[4]. And all Accord audio systems feature an MP3/auxiliary input jack.

VALUE
The Accord has always been an exceptional value. And now, with the 2011 Accord SE Sedan, you get even more Honda for your money. Priced at $23,730, the luxurious Accord SE comes equipped with leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

BEST RESIDUAL VALUE
Ever since the very first Accord was introduced in 1976, quality Honda engineering has made it one of the most reliable vehicles on the road. This high level of craftsmanship results in a high residual value, as well. In fact, the 2010 Accord was honored with the “Best Residual Value Award for the Midsize Segment” from ALG and the “Best Resale Value Award” for the Midsize Segment from Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. We take great pride knowing that the Accord is such an excellent value today, and will be for years to come.

The Accord Sedan earned a 5-star safety rating in each combined category based on the latest government standards.5-Star Safety
The Accord Sedan earned a 5-star safety rating in each of NHTSA’s combined safety rating categories. And that is quite an achievement, especially since the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has established new, more stringent NCAP standards.

CONTROL
Every Accord is designed to keep you on course and away from danger. Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) helps sense oversteer or understeer in an emergency situation, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control and keep you on course. Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), help you maintain control during hard braking. Properly inflated tires are crucial for safe operation, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when a tire’s pressure reaches a significantly low level.

PROTECTION
The Accord has been engineered to help protect you and your passengers when collisions just cannot be avoided. In-floor frame rails improve crashworthiness. And our Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure disperses frontal crash energy over a wide area, helping reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment.

AIRBAGS AND MORE
Every Accord also features standard front, front side and side curtain airbags to help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision. The front side airbags employ a large two-chamber design, and the front passenger’s side airbag uses the Occupant Position Detection System to prevent deployment if a child or small-statured passenger is out of position and in the airbag’s path of deployment. And active front head restraints help reduce the likelihood of whiplash injuries in a sufficient rear impact.

HONDA’S SAFETY PHILOSOPHY
Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.

ENVIROMENTALLY CONSCIENCE

The 2011 Accord Sedan is a fuel-efficient automotive wonder. 4-cylinder models with automatic transmission get an estimated 34 highway mpg. V-6 models get an estimated 30 highway mpg – all of which means the new Accord is even more fuel-efficient than last year. And as an added bonus, all Accord models run on regular unleaded gasoline.
ULEV and PZEV-Rated

Honda was the first manufacturer to offer Ultra-Low-Emission Vehicle (ULEV)-rated emission technology on a production vehicle. Today, the 2011 Accord offers the even stricter Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle (PZEV) technology.

So as you can see, the 2011 Honda Accord is truly better in everyway. Here is a E-brochure of the 2011 Honda Accord for all the questions you may have.. click here

Here is a recap of all that is new and improved on the 2011 Honda Accord.

2011 Honda Accord Sedan Earns Best-Possible 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score – Ken Garff Honda

January 13, 2011

The 2011 Honda Accord Sedan has earned the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) best-possible Overall Vehicle Score1 of five stars, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

Helping the Accord achieve the top score were five-star ratings for overall frontal crash safety, overall side crash safety and rollover resistance. The Accord is one of only six vehicles to achieve a five-star Overall Vehicle Score to date, and is the first to achieve five stars in each of the three ratings categories: 5-star frontal crash rating, 5-star side crash rating (combined results of side barrier and side pole) and 5-star rollover rating.

The newly introduced Overall Vehicle Score is part of the federal government’s more stringent New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) that is first being applied to 2011 models. As a convenience to new car shoppers, the Overall Vehicle Score represents the combined results of the overall ratings from the frontal crash tests, the side crash tests2 and the rollover-resistance3 into a single, summary score between one and five stars.

Revised for 2011, the frontal crash safety test incorporates a crash dummy representative of a small-size female in the front passenger’s seat and, as before, an average-size male crash dummy in the driver’s seat. The side-crash safety evaluations continue to include the side-barrier test used previously where a moving barrier strikes a stationary vehicle at an angle. However, a new side-pole test has been added where a moving vehicle strikes a stationary pole barrier. Ratings are provided for both of the individual seating positions in the side-barrier crash safety test, as well as a combined rating for both positions, while the side-pole rating is based on a test of the frontal seating position only. The front seating position side barrier crash safety test result also is combined with the side-pole crash safety test result for a front seat side impact rating, with the results of all of the tests combined into an overall side-crash safety rating.

The side-barrier crash test now implements a combination of male and female crash test dummies, with the male positioned in a front seating position (as before) and the small female (new) in a rear seating position. The newly introduced side-pole crash test exclusively uses the small female crash dummy in a front seating position.

Complete NCAP safety rating results for the 2011 Accord Sedan are:

All 2011 Accord vehicles utilize the Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. ACE is an exclusive body design that enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes. The ACE design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment. Standard safety equipment includes Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with traction control; an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS); side curtain airbags; dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags; a driver’s front side airbag; and a front passenger’s side airbag with an occupant position detection system.

The entire Honda Accord lineup has received updates and improvements for 2011, highlighted by increased fuel economy, enhanced exterior and interior styling, and the addition of a new Special Edition (SE) trim level. With a variety of models available in 4-cylinder and V-6 variations, each Accord model provides a unique balance of style, performance, efficiency and value.

The 2011 Accord Sedan’s exterior expresses a more upscale and powerful presence with new styling for the front grille, front bumper and rear deck lid, along with a new wheel design for EX models. improvements to vehicle aerodynamics, engine friction and an optimized fifth-gear ratio on automatic transmission models all contribute to fuel economy improvements. The EPA fuel-economy ratings4 for Accord 4-cylinder sedan models equipped with an automatic transmission improve by 2 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city, 3 mpg on the highway and 2 mpg combined, for a city/highway/combined rating of 23/34/27 mpg.

Balancing value and luxury, the new Accord SE Sedan trim level offers all of the standard features from the popular Accord LX-P while adding leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, driver’s power-lumbar support and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.

interior updates on all models include new seat fabrics on models with cloth seats, an updated instrument panel design and more-refined accent points throughout the interior. New features on certain models include a USB Audio interface on Accord EX and EX-L Sedans, a rear-view camera on sedans equipped with the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation5 System™, and all Accord EX models gain the auto on/off headlight feature. Additionally, Accord EX-L V-6 models receive a two-position memory system for the driver’s seat.

A 190-horsepower, 2.4-liter, 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine is standard in the Accord EX and EX-L Sedans. The 2.4-liter i‐VTEC four-cylinder engine in the Accord LX, LX-P and SE Sedans produces 177 horsepower. The available 3.5-liter, 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC® V-6 engine produces 271-horsepower and takes advantage of Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM®) technology that can deactivate up to half of the cylinders while cruising to improve fuel economy. EPA fuel-economy ratings4 for the 2011 Accord V-6 Sedan are 20 city/30 highway mpg, an improvement of 1 mpg in each environment. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard on 4-cylinder models and a 5-speed automatic is available. A 5-speed automatic transmission is standard on V-6-powered models.

The fully independent, double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension systems inspire confident handling performance while also providing a comfortable ride. The 2011 Accord Sedan comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels with wheel covers (alloy on LX-P and SE); and 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on EX and above sedan models. All Accords feature four-wheel disc brakes.

2012 Honda Civic Concept Revealed – Ken Garff Honda Downtown

January 11, 2011

Just the Facts:
DETROIT — The 2012 Honda Civic Si Concept coupe and Civic Concept sedan made their world debuts on Monday at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, previewing the production versions of the popular small car and targeting a growing number of competitors with an aggressive new look and multiple engine choices.

The ninth generation of the Civic will go on sale this spring as a 2012 model. Pricing has not been announced.

The Civic Si Concept coupe showcases a more angular face with a mesh grille and a tapered rear roof line. The Si Concept gets a rear air diffuser, a center-mounted exhaust outlet and a rear deck-lid spoiler with dual vents. Rounding out the package are 19-inch machined alloy wheels.

The Civic Concept is defined by a steeply raked windshield, a wide stance and pronounced character lines along the sides. Like the Si Concept, it gets 19-inch machined alloy wheels.

Honda said the 2012 Civic will be available in sedan and coupe variants with conventional gas engines, two sporty Si performance versions, one hybrid and a natural gas model. In its hybrid version, the 2012 Civic marks the first time Honda has used lithium-ion batteries in a Honda hybrid.

Honda did not disclose technical specifications on the 2012 Civic.

The Japanese automaker noted that most upcoming Civic models get EcoAssist technology, which debuted on the Honda CR-Z hybrid last year. This feature allows drivers to choose between different drive modes that alter fuel economy. Honda noted that it is expanding retail sales of the natural-gas-powered Civic GX model, the only CNG passenger car assembled in North America.

All 2012 Civics get vehicle stability assist as standard equipment.

The Civic is pitted against the redesigned Ford Focus, the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Sonic and a new version of the Hyundai Elantra.

2011 Honda Odyssey Named Automobile Magazine All Star! – Ken Garff Honda Downtown

    December 16, 2010

AUTOMOBILE Magazine has named the 2011 Honda Odyssey as one of the winners of its prestigious 2011 AUTOMOBILE Magazine “All-Star” awards, the publication announced today.

The Odyssey has won the All-Star award a total of eight times in its history, winning votes from the magazine’s editorial staff for the vehicle’s versatile and comfortable interior, refined handling dynamics, family friendly features and fuel economy.

“The all-new Odyssey represents the latest and best thinking that Honda has to offer in a minivan,” said John Mendel, executive vice president of sales for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “The recognition from AUTOMOBILE Magazine as an All Star is an honor made possible by the hard work and passion that Honda associates have put into the design and construction of the vehicle.”

The completely redesigned Odyssey improves for 2011 with greater interior functionality, a more distinctive style and higher fuel economy. Significant enhancements to the interior include a new “3-mode” second-row seat design that is more comfortable for center passengers (Odyssey EX and above). A more powerful and efficient 3.5-liter i-VTEC V-6 engine features Variable Cylinder Management (standard on all models for 2011) and produces 248 hp while delivering an EPA-estimated1 city/highway/combined fuel economy of up to 19/28/22 mpg on Odyssey Touring models.

New technology available on certain models includes a rear entertainment system with a 16.2-inch ultrawide split-screen display and an auxiliary High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) video input, an “intelligent” Multi-Information Display (i-MID) with customizable wallpaper, integration of FM traffic data on navigation models and much more.

The 2011 Odyssey is truly an American-made vehicle, designed, engineered and assembled in the United States. The Odyssey is produced exclusively at Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) using domestic and globally sourced parts. The Odyssey previously won the AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star Award in 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Honda Plans Gas Engine For CRZ! – Ken Garff Honda

    December 7, 2010

Honda is set to provide the CR-Z with an all-new four-cylinder gasoline-engine option as part of plans to broaden the compact coupe’s appeal in key world markets, including North America.

Currently available with just one engine option—a gasoline-electric hybrid system that mates a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a brushless electric motor—the CR-Z is also earmarked to receive a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine currently undergoing development in Japan. The new unit, which is also planned for the Jazz, the Civic and the Accord, forms an integral part of an engine downsizing program instigated at Honda.

With forced induction and Honda’s patented VTEC-i fully variable camshaft-timing system, the new 1.6-liter engine is aimed at providing the performance of a typical 2.0-liter engine. AutoWeek sources in Japan say the new engine is likely to be offered in two guises: a standard version making about 160 hp and a highly tuned version aimed at matching the 200 hp of the discontinued 2.0-liter four-cylinder used in the Civic Type R. The latter engine is likely to form the basis of a CR-Z Type R tentatively due out in late 2011.

Plans to go beyond the single hybrid-engine option for the CR-Z come as sales of the coupe have begun to sag in Honda’s all-important home market. The Japanese carmaker’s intentions to add a gasoline engine to the lineup were first hinted at with the CR-Z Type R concept revealed at the recent SEMA show in Las Vegas. Unlike the proposed production version though, that car ran a turbocharged version of the CR-Z’s existing 1.5-liter four-cylinder.
